Medical Education Programs

Our program directors tailor each rotation to meet the requirements and objectives of each student based on their skill level. We maintain a low Student to Faculty ratio that ensures personalized instruction and support throughout their rotation. Students will learn in an outpatient and/or inpatient setting which will enable them to leverage specialized expertise, new technologies and best practices to improve outcomes of their future patients.

Externship Program

Personalized training in the US healthcare system.

The externship program allow graduates from an international medical school to experience and be trained by faculty at American clinics and hospital facilities. Programs are designed to match the residency program requirements applied to Foreign Graduate applications.

The externship program is a clinical training program offered at our medical hubs. It is ideal for international medical students and graduates looking to gain experience in the U.S. Externs will assume a role parallel to that of an intern or resident with schedule flexibility and self-directed study.

Externs are expected to rotate through inpatient and outpatient services, and become proficient in history taking, performing physical examinations and formulate a proper assessment and plan, and transcribe accurate patient write-up’s under the direct supervision of faculty.

Features

  • Hands-on patient opportunities

  • Participate in Objective Structured Clinical Examinations

  • Submit weekly patient case logs and history and physical exam write-ups, with review by faculty

  • Offer sub-internships and subspecialty clinical courses

Benefits

Letters of Recommendation

Our partnered physicians offer letters of recommendation based on performance. Physicians have full discretion over the content and letterhead. Letters will be focused on their observation of the student, or stories about their experiences with them that reflect his/her potential, professionalism, clinical acumen, interpersonal and leadership skills, passion for medicine, etc.

Certificates of Completion

MDEG offers certificate programs in select specialties where students are eligible to receive a certificate of completion. These certificate programs involve attendance at didactic seminars/courses, clinical experiences and scholarly activity/research over the course of 3 to 5 rotations depending on specialty. A faculty committee in charge of administering the Certificate will review each applicant’s portfolio and, if approved, the Certificate will be granted upon completion of the rotation series.
